We see this type of temptation a few places in scripture—Adam and Eve, Job, Jesus, Paul, etc—but the typical verse that we point to is from 1 Corinthians In this passage, Paul warns married couples from abstaining from each another too long, so that Satan will not tempt them to be unfaithful to their spouse since they lacked self-control. Do not deprive one another—except when you agree for a time, to devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again; otherwise, Satan may tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

Sin is what happens when someone gives into temptation. Over and over, the Bible challenges followers of Jesus to resist temptation and gives us what we need to overcome the temptations that we face.

One final reminder, everyone will have different things that they are tempted by. One might be tempted to steal and another has no desire to do so, instead, they struggle with foul language. Blessed is the one who endures trials, because when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
