Why d4 vimeo

While Passagen makes the P D4 story clearer, it doesn't simplify it or remove their elusive mystery. Peruse the set's excellent notes and illustrations, and you can glean a skeletal outline of the group's history. A year later, after the infamous split-band concert, they became P The numbers came from each letter's position in the alphabet.

D4, and a trio of records made before their demise later released together as Three Projects. That quick sketch is less a reductive picture of P D4 than a launching point toward further mystery.

Because it turns out each release contains a web of associations and distinctions that call into question what an "original" P D4 release might be.

Distruct does the same with recordings the group requested from its comrades in the international cassette underground, such as Nurse With Wound and DDDA.

Nichts is both a split and collaboration with S. D4 material, then ends with a stirring minute collaboration with Japanese noise legend, Merzbow. Then there's the elusiveness of P D4's music.

In fact, its tracks are so unpredictable they practically defy human comprehension. Musician and P D4 obsessive Howard Stelzer who we interviewed in describes this perfectly in his liner notes: "Drones are easy to listen to But P D4 throw everything all up in the air, and only catch some of it. The rest is up there still. It's hard to fathom how the same individuals could make this much music together without falling into any patterns or repeating themselves.

But even the group's take on that is unpredictable: At least one member felt P D4's work was as structured as any other music. I can't quite imagine ever being able to commit Passagen to memory. But I do think Wehowsky is onto something, at least in terms of the effect of P Because what at first seems random gets more and more logical with each listen. Some of it even starts to sound intuitive, once I've loosened my urge to make sense of it all.

Huge days, little sleep, lost bags, crashed helicopter the D4 lived , speeding tickets talked our way out of both ;- , wicked mosquito bites, flu, and a trip to the urgent care - all the prerequisites for a great shoot.

Just the way I like it! Special thanks to everyone that helped on this production! Blaine Deutsch and Marina Rich, thank you for keeping us all on track, organized, fed and looking good and Marina, thanks for loving me and being the best wife in the world.

Tommy Thompson and Chris McNamara; thanks for keeping us safe and getting me into the coolest camera positions possible! Amazing team and thank you everyone who helped! When it is all said and done by far the most exciting part is the future. It's about the collective creativity and vision of the photo and video community and what we will all create when we get a D4 in our hands.

One thing is for certain, WHY was just the tip of the iceberg! Check out the link below for more production and technical info on the Corey Rich Productions blog:. Why Vimeo? Get started.
